Abstract

The focus of the article is drama translation and its performability or readability. The article contains an overview of scientific literature on drama
translation written in Russian and in English by specialists in Translation, Theatre and Cultural Studies. The author defines most prominent theoretical positions, suggests her translation of the terms «performability» and «readability» into Russian and encourages the readers to conceptualize drama translation strategies (on the one hand, translation for staging and, on the other, translation for reading) together.
