Abstract: The article is devoted to the study of reflection in the epigone’s dis-course. Phenomenon of the epigone’s discourse is analyzed beyond the axiology as one of mechanisms of development of the literature process. In general, the research is based on articles written byTyn’anov (literature evolution), Chumakov (semantic life of the masterpieces), Lotman and Toporov (principles of typology and ratifica-tion of different literature groups and behaviorial semiotics). Peculiarities and fea-tures of the reflection are scrutinized on the material of the Russian prose literature of the 1st part of XIX century (Sushkov, Somov, Avdeev etc). The regular secondary factor of the piece of Art (as implicit and explicit) determines the literary reputation. In some cases the writers, who referred to the secondary character of the chosen plot were treated as imitators who lacked the personal style. The epigone’s reflection re-veals an intertextual and allusive level of the text. The researched contexts with “exposure of a device” allow us to make a conclusion that conscious recognition of sec-ondary factor of a plot presents itself one of the common creative strategies.

Keywords: Russian literature, unoriginal following, secondary factor, reflection
