Name: Harbin Poet Vasily Loginov and His “Maslenitsa” Poems

Abstract:

The article is dedicated to the forgotten Harbin Russian poet Vasily Stepanovich Loginov (1891–1945/1946?). The circumstances of his biography are systematized and supplemented by archival materials. The role of Vasily Loginov in the literary life of Russian Harbin and his participation in the literary circles “Churaevka” and “Young Churaevka” are shown. The article calls into question the influence of Valery Bryusov’s poetry that supposedly determines Loginov’s poetics. As an artistic dominant, comedian and humor are proposed, dating back to the poetics of the magazines “Satyricon” and “New Satyricon”. The verses of Loginov dedicated to the Maslenitsa holiday are considered in detail. Unlike the Soviet press, emigre Russian publications maintained the calendar traditions of pre-revolutionary periodicals. An analysis of the magazine cycle of poems, which, when published in a book, was slightly supplemented and turned into a poem, shows the author as a bearer of a fine poetic culture. In Vasily Loginov’s pancake verses, echoes of Russian classical literature, poetry of the era of symbolism, Soviet poets, as well as poets, the author’s comrades in the Far Eastern emigration, are heard.
