Abstract:

The article deals with the features of journalistic behavior and social and literary reputation by Pisarev. The focus is on the correlation of Pisarev’s “biographical”, his public literary life and the “literary life” of the 1860s. Purpose: The study of the dynamic picture of the formation of Pisarev’s journal reputation and forms of its implementation in the public space. The correlation of the “biographical” and “journalistic” Pisarev is problematized through the contradictions of the critic’s lifestyle, personality (“a young man from a good noble family”) and the perception of his “virtual” image (the reincarnation of Bazarov and Mark Volokhov). Bazarov is a reference figure, which Pisarev focuses on, developing forms of public magazine incarnation. The process of creating a new image (realist) is considered on the biographical and journal material of the period of 1862–1866, the time of imprisonment in the Peter and Paul Fortress. The influence of Chernyshevsky’s novel “What to do?” is considered to replace the “name”, which is formed as a contamination of a nihilist and a new person. The success of Pisarev’s “name” as a nihilist is associated with the fixation of the literary sample in the reader’s mind. The unsuccessful attempt to change the name as a change of the public password – the realist – is explained by the speculative nature of the created ideological scheme, which has not found literary and social embodiment. The word realist was fixed as a concept, but as a name it was not converted into a model of behavior.
