ArticleName: The Image of the New Woman in Leonid Leonov’s Novel “The Road to the Ocean” Authors: Lyudmila P. Yakimova Institute of Philology of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, Russian Federation
Abstract: One of L. Leonov’s main works, The Road to the Ocean, is considered both in the context of the writer's poetic and stylistic searches, and his deep interest in the shifts taking place in the intellectual and psychological world of a new person, including in the nature of the relationship between a man and a woman. In the gender aspect, different types of female behavior are investigated – from the masculinization of the female appearance to the recognition of the irrevocable values of Being and spiritual qualities inherent in a person since biblical times and associated with the enduring memory of the Garden of Eden.
