Name: Strategies of subject construction in contemporary Chinese poetry and cultural transfer issues

Abstract: The paper analyzes multi-format subject design in contemporary Chinese poetry in the works of those authors who have played a significant role in the development of contemporary verse’s new poetics, such as Xi Chuan, Yu Jian, Wang Jiaxin, Han Dong, Sun Wenbo and others. What seems important for their texts’ subject organization is the reception – not only of foreign- language traditions, but also of the autochthonous tradition of classical verse. A poet’s separation from this tradition in the XX–XXI centuries leads to interaction with classical verse in the form of cultural transfer. A number of classical features ("hidden" poetic subject, ambiguity-exploiting strategies, internalization of reality) is translated into complex subject-object models of contemporary authors who problematize the structure of poetic subject and the language means of its expression.
