Abstract: The article is devoted to analysis of narrative intrigue in D. Glukhovsky’s novel “Text”. On the one hand, the text is organized by an adventurous intrigue, built on the model of “quest”, directed by the question of how the hero will emerge from the difficult situation. On the other hand, the main narrative “tool” that directs reader’s interest is the intrigue of identity, organized according to the model of “metamorphosis”, “transformation”. The starting point of the transformation is the protagonist’s perception of himself and others as performers of ready-made roles, the final point is an understanding of the personal uniqueness of everyone. The identity crisis experienced by the hero is depicted by using of counterfactual plot, which is also explored in the article.

Keywords: narrative intrigue, narrator, identity, counterfactual plot, virtual voice
