Abstract:

The article proposes a semiotic-phenomenological understanding of the problem of meaning production and misunderstanding of a poetic text as one of the possible re-actions of the reader. The material was the metaliterary reflection of Maria Stepanova: a comparison of the reader with a seismograph-sensecatcher, the process of interpretation with actions on the boundaries of ordinary communication, misun-derstanding with the absence of a reading organ. The author is considered simultane-ously as a coding sender and a decoding interpreter of being, capturing meanings. The uniqueness of what is encoded and the experience of the poet’s knowledge of the world, the transcendental nature of what is conveyed through a sign, the need to re-construct the language of speaking and understanding without losing the equivalence of meanings make it difficult to perceive a poetic text. M. Stepanova creates the image of an ideal reader, ready for the traumatic experience of understanding a new language and capturing new meanings in a situation where there is no “organ” for a full dialogue.
