Abstract: The article is dedicated to the study of a form of intertextual interaction – intertextual cross-talk. The author studies the role of images in the intertextual cross-talk. A point indicates that intertexuality represents a means of cultural memory exteriorization, forms of information storage being both verbal and vivid. The main role of optic canal in creation of such images is stressed. Visual images, based on words, are kept in memory and represent a means for intertexual interaction, and in addition they become wandering images. The intertextal cross-talk based on them can be both deliberate and accidental. It can take place either within one culture or across cultures. The author describes examples of a horse image in writings by N. Nekrasov, F. Dostoevsky, V. Mayakovsky and B. Slutsky, and a window image in writings by V. Woolf and M. Tsvetaeva.

Keywords: ntertextuality, information, visual image, intertextual cross-talk
