ArticleName: Poems by Vitaly Ryabinin in Vladivostok Periodicals in 1919–1920 Authors: Elena V. Kapinos Institute of Philology of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, Russian Federation
Abstract: The article republishes the texts of V. Ryabinin’s poems “Zelenoostrov”, “Desperate Willy”, “Aliens”, published in Vladivostok newspapers that are currently difficult to access: (newspaper “Vladivo-Nippo”, Vladivostok, 1920, October, newspaper “Voice of the Motherland”, Vladivostok, 1920, July). Vitaly Ryabinin is a little-known Siberian and Far Eastern futurist, author of the book “Small chords” (Tomsk, 1918). The article comments on the plot and style of the “Green Island” and “Desperate Willy” poems. The plot of “Desperate Willy” is traced back to A. Bely’s story “The Golden Fleece,” which, most likely, was adopted by Ryabinin through T. Tchurilin. T. Tchurilin’s books were reviewed and discussed among Far Eastern futurists; an excerpt from V. Mart’s review of T. Tchurilin’s “Spring after Death” is given in the article. The hero of the “Desperate Willy” is a self-character, the poem is a futuristic mystery, includes both frequent futuristic motifs and leitmotifs characteristic of V. Ryabinin’s work (colors, paints, “stolen sun”, instability of consciousness, etc.) Colorfulness and picturesqueness is also characteristic of the “Green Island” poem, taken from the libretto of the “Green Island” play by C. Lecocq. The poems “Desperate Willy” and “Aliens”, published in the same newspaper “Voice of the Motherland”, are considered in the article as a diptych; their sound structure, po-etics and plot are similar.
